Pakistan Consulate General & Trade Commission of Sydney commemorated Pakistan Day

On 23rd March Pakistan Day is celebrated in Pakistan to commemorate the historic ‘Lahore Resolution’ of March 23, 1940.  This is also known as the ’Pakistan Resolution’, which ultimately led to the independent of Pakistan from the British Rule in 1947. As part of the celebration, Pakistan Consulate General & Trade Commission of Sydney commemorated Pakistan Day in Sydney’s City of Canada Bay Community Centre, Rhodes.

The program began with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by national anthem and flag hoisting.  The Deputy Consul General Ms. Saima Jamil welcomed the guests and community leaders.

The Consul General in Sydney, His Excellency Mohammad Ashraf addressed the audience and read the message from the President of Pakistan, highlighted the Pakistan Resolution other current issues. His Excellency also congratulated the Pakistani diaspora on Pakistan Day and beginning of the Holy month of Ramzan. He also expressed his gratitude to Australia as a wonderful multicultural nation and prayed for its further advancement.

Ms. Saima Jamil concluded the program after reading the message of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and highlighted the principle of Unity, Faith and Discipline given by Quid-e-AzamMuhammad Ali Jinnah.  She also recited some lines from Allama Iqbal’s poem.
